Free Online Audio Speed Changer

Our free audio speed changer lets you make any track play faster or slower while keeping voices and instruments sounding completely natural. The secret is that it preserves the original pitch: speed it up and nobody sounds like a chipmunk, slow it down and nothing sounds deep or sluggish. You simply choose a speed, preview it live, and download the result — no software and no account needed.

Speeding audio up is a huge time-saver. Listening to a lecture, audiobook or podcast at 1.25× or 1.5× lets you get through far more in the same time while still understanding every word. Many students use it to review recorded classes quickly, and busy people use it to clear their podcast queue. Because the voices stay at their normal pitch, faster speech still sounds clear and easy to follow.

Slowing audio down is just as useful. Transcribers drop the speed so they can keep up and type every word accurately. Musicians slow a tricky solo or riff to half speed to learn it note by note. Language learners slow down native speech to catch the pronunciation, and anyone trying to work out song lyrics can finally hear the words clearly. The tool covers a wide range, from 0.5× (half speed) right up to 3× (triple speed).

A live preview means you can hear exactly how each speed sounds before you commit, so it is easy to find the perfect setting. Everything is processed right inside your browser, so your audio is never uploaded to a server. It is fast, private, free, and has no watermark — just drop in a file, set the speed, and download your adjusted MP3.

Frequently asked questions

Does changing speed change the pitch?
No. This tool preserves the original pitch, so faster or slower audio still sounds natural — voices keep their normal tone instead of going high or deep.
What speed range is supported?
From 0.5× (half speed) up to 3× (triple speed). You can preview any speed live before downloading, so it is easy to find the perfect setting.
What speed is best for studying or podcasts?
Many people find 1.25× to 1.5× the sweet spot for lectures and podcasts — noticeably faster but still easy to follow. For learning a song or transcribing, try 0.5× to 0.75×.
Will speeding up audio make it harder to understand?
Because the pitch stays natural, speech remains clear at moderate speeds. Very high speeds above about 2× can start to feel rushed, so increase gradually until you find your comfortable limit.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing ever leaves your device.
What format is the output?
Your speed-adjusted audio is saved as an MP3, ready to play on any device or app.
