Can I make audio louder without distortion?▾
Moderate boosts stay clean. Large boosts on audio that is already loud can clip and distort. If you mainly want a consistent, balanced loudness, the Audio Normalizer is a better fit.
What does 100%, 200% or 300% mean?▾
100% leaves the volume unchanged, 200% makes it twice as loud, and 300% three times as loud. Anything below 100% makes it quieter, and 0% is fully silent.
How is this different from the normalizer?▾
This tool multiplies the volume by a fixed amount you choose. The normalizer measures the actual perceived loudness and adjusts the track to a consistent professional target — better when you want several files to match.
Why does my boosted file sound distorted?▾
It is likely clipping, which happens when the audio is pushed past its maximum. Lower the percentage until the crackle disappears, or normalize the file instead for a cleaner result.
